Habitat
The continent that the European pine vole lives in is Europe. It lives in most parts of Europe. It lives in Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macedonia, the former Yugoslav Republic of, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland Turkey, and Ukraine.
The vole can live anywhere; from the high mountains of Greece, to the dry summers. The mountains in Greece actually take up 80% of the land, and the voles still live in Greece. There are many natural fruits that grow in Greece's forests. They do not need to migrate.
The vole is actually getting to a point where pest control comes in. The vole eats the roots of plants and weaken the plant. The people of Europe don't like the vole much. If it was even more over populated, more pest control would be needed.

Lifestyle and Diet
European pine voles normally travel alone, or sometimes even in small groups. For this solitary, they do not use animal calls. A warning display that they have is that they stamp their hind feet and they make a noise. That is the only time they will make a noise. For the most part, they are diurnal, meaning they live in the daytime. They make above ground nests. To survive, they sometimes burrow into the ground to stay away from animals that could not normally reach them.
The vole eats many different plants because it is a herbivore. They also have many predators. Some examples are weasels, foxes, boars, stoats, polecats, and some snakes.

Breeding
The European pine vole's sexual maturity, or the age before it can reproduce, is 96 days. It's gestation is around 22 days and can give birth to 3-8 live young at one time. They have no mating rituals that are different than others.
